2008 Indianapolis 500 winner Scott Dixon joins Jamie McMurray and Juan Pablo Montoya for Brickyard Grand Prix.
INDIANAPOLIS (July 24, 2012) – Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates continues to pull out all the stops for Friday’s inaugural Brickyard Grand Prix, adding Scott Dixon to an already star-studded lineup for GRAND-AM’s competition debut at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Indianapolis winners only need apply to drive the team’s No. 02 Chevron BMW/Riley, and Dixon has the credentials to join 2000 Indianapolis 500 winner Juan Pablo Montoya and 2010 Brickyard 400 champion Jamie McMurray. Dixon was the 2008 Indianapolis 500 winner among his 28 IndyCar victories. He is a two-time series champion (2003 and 2008), and helped CGR to its first of four Rolex 24 At Daytona victories in 2006.
The No. 02 entry joins the team’s No. 01 TELMEX BMW/Riley of Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas, the most successful driver pairing in Rolex Series history. They are currently leading the Daytona Prototype standings in the quest for their third consecutive title, and fourth in five years. Pruett also won the 2004 DP crown in Ganassi’s first season in GRAND-AM. He is the leading winner in GRAND-AM history with 37 DP and 38 class victories, including Road America in June; Rojas is second with 24 DP victories.
In addition to earning “bragging rights” as GRAND-AM’s first winner at Indianapolis, Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates will also capture the inaugural North American Endurance Championship presented by VISITFLORIDA.com if either car wins the race.
