Sandberg, Borcheller Fastest In Final Test Session
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Brett Sandberg and Terry Borcheller led their respective Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge sessions in Sunday afternoon’s sixth and final session of the “Roar Before the Rolex 24.”
Richardson led the Grand Sport competitors with a lap of 1:57.705 (108.88 mph) in the incident-free session. Borcheller was fastest in Street Tuner, running a lap of 2:07.657 (100.39 mph).
Maxwell, Jordan Set Fastest Times In Sunday Morning Session
Aston Martin swept the top three positions in GS Sunday morning, including the fastest time of the weekend set by Scott Maxwell in the No. 55 Multimatic Motorsports Vantage with a lap of 1:56.936 (109.60 mph). Multimatic took the top two times in the session, with TRG rounding out the top-three in its Aston Martin debut. Stefan Mucke set the time for TRG at 1:57.201 (109.35 mph), just off the session's second fastest time set by David Empringham, 1:57.128 (109.42 mph).
In ST it was Compass360 Racing alternating the top times in the session with Andrew Jordan turning the fastest lap of the session and the weekend at 2:06.642 (101.20 mph) in the No. 77 Honda Civic Si. Terry Borcheller came in second quickest with a lap of 2:07.191 (100.76 mph) towards the end of the session, but was still 0.549 seconds behind Colborn.
The final Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge session of the weekend will be at 1:30 p.m. ET.
Aquilante Back On Top Of CTSCC Practice Saturday Afternoon
Andrew Aquilante proved he doesn’t need a wet race track to set the quickest lap of the GS field, leading Saturday’s final Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge practice session.
In ST, it was 2005 Rolex 24 winner Terry Borcheller at the top of the charts.After setting a fast time early, Aquliante’s No. 35 Subaru Road Racing Team Subaru WRX-STI was briefly demoted by Bill Auberlen in the No. 96 Turner Motorsport BMW M3, but then put down a 1:57.486 (109.085 mph), which held to the end of the one-hour session. Auberlen’s time, a scant 0.002-second behind Aquilante, kept him in second. David Empringham was third in the No. 15 Multimatic Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage with a lap of 1:57.966 (108.641 mph).
Borcheller put the No. 23 Burton Racing BMW 328i at the head of the ST class. The 2003 Rolex DP champion entered a hot lap of 2:07.043 (100.879 mph), 0.247-second ahead of Andrew Jordan in the No. 77 Compass 360 Racing Honda Civic Si. Jordan snuck his fast lap in the closing seconds of the session, bumping Ryan Ellis in the No. 30 i-Moto Mazda Speed 3 to third in ST with a 2:07.418 (100.582 mph).

Multimatic Jumps To Top Of Charts On Saturday At Daytona
Multimatic Motorsports Aston Martins swept the top two places in Saturday’s opening Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge practice.
Scott Maxwell ran the fastest time of the Roar in GS with a lap of 1:57.149 (109.40 mph) in the No. 55 Aston Martin Vantage, followed by teammate David Empringham in the No. 15, 1:57.267 (109.29 mph). Andrew Aquilante – fastest in Friday’s two sessions – was third with a lap of 1:57.382 (109.18 mph) in the No. 35 SRRT Subaru WRX-STI.
Ryan Eversley led ST with the fastest lap of the Roar, 2:06.878 (101.01 mph) in the No. 75 Compass 360 Racing Honda Civic Si. Terry Borcheller was second in the No. 23 Burton Racing BMW 128i, 2:07.337 (100.65 mph), followed by Compass360 driver Andrew Jordan in the No. 77 Honda, 2:07.337 (100.65 mph).
Subaru Starts Strong In CTSCC Testing At Daytona
For the second session in a row, Andrew Aquilante set the fastest time during the opening day of testing for the 2013 Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge. He set a best lap of 2:06.773 (101.094 mph) barely 35 minutes into the session in the No. 35 Subaru Road Racing Team Subaru WRX-STI.
Ian James moved up to second on his final lap in the Grand Sport class, a 2:07.090 (100.842 mph) in the No. 158 Dempsey Racing Ford Mustang Boss 302 R. James’ late flyer pushed Kurt Rezzetano in the No. 36 Subaru to third at 2:07.370 (100.620 mph).
In ST, Jeff Mosing set the best lap on his last time around Daytona International Raceway with a lap of 2:14.775 (95.092 mph) in RACE EPIC/Murillo Racing’s No. 56 BMW 328. That pushed Ryan Ellis down to second with his best lap of 2:15.515 (94.573 mph) in the No. 30 Mazda Speed 3 from i-Moto Racing, last year’s ST team champion. Greg Strelzoff finished the session third at 2:16.666 (93.776 mph) in the No. 80 BimmerWorld Racing BMW 328i.
The only stoppage in the session came at the 40-minute mark. Roddey Stirling Jr., crashed the No. 52 Ford Mustang into the Turn One tire wall.
Aquilante, Borcheller Off To Fast Start In CTSCC Testing At Daytona

Aquilante led the Grand Sport competitors in the incident-free session with a lap of 2:04.998 (102.530 mph) in the No. 35 Subaru Road Racing Team Subaru WRX-STI, followed by Kris Wilson in the No. 140 Automatic Racing Aston Martin Vantage, and Billy Johnson in the No. 60 Roush Performance Ford Mustang Boss 302R.
Terry Borcheller led the Street Tuner competitors with a lap of 2:15.710 (94.44 mph) in the final minute of the one-hour session, driving the No. 23 Burton Racing BMW 128i). He was followed by Compass360 Racing Honda Civic Si teammates Andrew Jordan and Ray Mason.
