Racing is the core mission of GRAND-AM Road Racing but charity always finishes a close second. The 2013 season began last month with the traditional visit to Camp Boggy Creek, GRAND-AM's official charity partner, with a record-breaking turnout of more than 100 drivers, team members, owners and sponsors from both the Rolex Sports Car Series and the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge.

Attendees donated more than $20,000 and many who could not attend have subsequently sent donations to support the Eustis, Fla. facility, which provides a traditional camp experience for Florida children with serious illnesses. More than 53,000 children and family members have attended camp sessions since its inception in 1996.

Activities consisted of the annual Frisselle Brothers Mini-Golf Tournament, hosted by Burt and Brian Frisselle; an archery competition also known as "Bows and Arrows" and award ceremony and lunch in the camp's dining hall.

Andy Jordan of GAINSCO Racing won the mini-golf tourney. Darren Law, also of GAINSCO, was the Bows and Arrows winner.

During lunch, Terrye and Brad Frisselle – Burt and Brian's parents – shared their personal experience having volunteered as "family pals" during one of the camp's Family Retreat Weekends. They recounted how Camp Boggy Creek has been a life-changing experience for them.

"It was our largest turn-out ever and we were happy to welcome so many first-time guests," said Sarah F. Gurtis, corporate development officer for Camp Boggy Creek. "I don't think they knew how much fun they were going to have. Events like this help remind the GRAND-AM community how much we value their support."
