VIR Opens Daytona Prototype Testing to Race Fans

DANVILLE, Va. - For those that can't wait until the return of the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16 to Virginia International Raceway with the Bosch Engineering 250 April 23-25, 2010, on November 3-4, 2009, VIR will have multiple Daytona Prototypes from the GRAND-AM Rolex Series testing on the VIR 3.27 mile natural terrain circuit.

Tickets will be on sale during the test for the 2010 Bosch Engineering 250 event at 2009 prices with a 10% early bird discount. So come on down and watch some great driving, enter to win a ride on the track, and buy your tickets at a great price for 2010's race.

Fresh from winning the inaugural 2009 Rolex 24 At Daytona Driver Challenge presented by Sunoco, British champion Derek Johnston will test a Daytona Prototype at VIR on Nov. 3-4 to begin his preparation to drive in the 2010 Rolex 24 At Daytona. Johnston won a coveted driver's seat in America's premier sports car race by scoring the highest average point total among registered drivers competing in the Cooper Tires British F3 International Series, the Avon Tyres British GT Championship, the Radical UK Cup and the SPEED sports prototype series in 2009 competition.

Brumos Racing will also have their fleet of Daytona Prototypes testing at VIR on these days with expected drivers to include GRAND-AM starts Darren Law and David Donohue. Also joining the test will be GRAND-AM veteran Guy Cosmo in a Porsche Coyote.

Fans Can Win GTI Hot Laps and test drive a Routan

These two days of tests are open to the public. Fans that enter the VIR gates prior to 11 a.m. will be given a raffle ticket for a chance to win hot laps in a brand-new Volkswagen GTI driven by one of the pro drivers during lunchtime. VW is VIR's official vehicle, and getting a ride around the natural terrain road course at speed in a GTI driven by a pro-racer is something you won't want to miss! Fans can also test drive a VW Routan van and for those that have to haul a family around - the Routan is hard to beat.
