Retired NYPD Officer Wins Daytona 'Watch and Win' Sweepstakes

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Retired NYPD officer Paul Rozek watches all of the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series races - and enters the "Watch and Win" Sweepstakes each time - but he felt that the odds were against his ever winning the contest.

Little did the Floral Park, N.Y., resident realize that he was getting a 53rd birthday present a day early when he entered the Sweepstakes during the recent Brumos Porsche 250 at Daytona International Speedway.

Now, Rozek will be attending the 2010 season-ending race at Miller Motorsports Park near Salt Lake City, Utah, where he will have a 1-in-11 opportunity to win a Chip Foose-designed Mazda, thanks to the sweepstakes - a joint effort between Pirelli Tire, Mazda and GRAND-AM.

"I was very surprised when I learned that I won, because of all the people watching the races," Rozek said. "I watch all the races on SPEED and try to attend as many events as possible at Lime Rock Park- it's a two-hour drive up and a four-hour drive back with all the New York City traffic."

Rozek's favorite driver is Scott Pruett, which he also roots for the Wayne Taylor Racing team. He's eagerly awaiting his first visit to Miller Motorsports Park - which will also be his first trip to Utah.

One entrant selected from the entries for each race wins a trip to the finale. Anthony Carbone of New York City was the Rolex 24 winner; Courtenay Smith of Friendsville, Tenn., was the Homestead-Miami Speedway winner; U.S. Army serviceman Chris Gilbert of Fayetteville, N.C., won at Barber Motorsports Park; Pennsylvanian Derek Hauck was an on-site winner at Virginia International Raceway; Omaha, Neb., fan Michael Grimm won at Lime Rock Park; Sharpsburg, Ga., resident Brian Bingham won at Watkins Glen; and Steve Jenear of Chicago won at Mid-Ohio.

Continuing with SPEED's live coverage of the Aug. 7 Rolex Series race at Watkins Glen International and Aug. 28 event in Montreal, Canada, viewers will be shown a "Watch and Win" code word several times throughout the broadcast. Once fans see the code word, they simply need to log on to GRAND-AM.com/foose to enter the sweepstakes. One winner is chosen following each of the 11 races to receive a trip to the 2010 Rolex Series finale at Miller Motorsports Park, complete with airfare, hotel accommodations, all-access credentials and a chance to spend the day with Dempsey Racing. One of the 11 winners will take home the Pirelli Tires/Dempsey Racing edition 2010 Mazda RX-8 R3 grand prize.

This marks the second consecutive season that GRAND-AM, Pirelli and SPEED have combined to offer a Foose-designed vehicle. Last year, Bruce Winn of Hubbard, Ore., won a Pirelli Tires Chip Foose edition 2009 Ford Flex at the Rolex Series season finale.

The Foose-designed Mazda RX-8 will be on display at the remaining Rolex Series events in 2010. Fans in attendance at all GRAND-AM events also have the opportunity to enter the sweepstakes at the race by visiting the GRAND-AM Fan Zone.
